Sydney & Wollongong Fishing Report
Mark from our Wollongong store fished the Kiama Blowhole Classic on the weekend with his wife Carol and son Aaron aboard Shellharbour boat “Rare Breed”. Carol landed a 64.5kg Yellowfin Tuna on 24kg line and a 146.4kg Blue Marlin on 24kg to take out Champion Boat Capture and Ladies Capture.
Plenty of Striped Marlin were tagged and released along with Yellowfin Tuna to 72kg. Most fish were in the 500 fathoms plus mark from Kiama to Stanwell Park canyons.
One outstanding capture from the Kiama comp was junior angler Taj Newcombe with a 62.5kg Yellowfin Tuna on 15kg line.
Mick Bailey fishing on “Doghouse” boated the heaviest Marlin of the Kiama comp with a Blue Marlin of 226.4kg on 60kg line to take out the $10,000 first Prize. The boat also took out second Heaviest Marlin of 193 kg on 60kg for the the second prize of $5000.
Some nice Jewfish have been caught around both the Captain Cook and Tom Uglys bridges over the weekend using soft vibes.
Port Hacking is still seeing good numbers of Kingfish being caught on surface lures. A few anglers have been trolling live baits at a slow walking pace with success too.
Along the cliffs of Botany to Port Hacking and south to the Royal National Park, Bonito are plentiful. They’re taking trolled skirts, casted metals and small divers.
Kiama Blowhole has plenty of Bonito and Kingfish for those spinning off the rocks. Jackson G-Control and Coconut Rigs have been doing their jobs well! Josh Robbins also fished with the G-Controllures during a quick 30 minute flick off the rocks, landing a few nice Tailor.
Daniel Gaunt has been spearing up in Vanuatu with his new Rob Allen thin skin wetsuit for a nice array of exotic tropical species!
