Sydney & Wollongong Fishing Report

John took Michael out fishing last weekend at Cronulla to chase Kingfish under the boats using plastics and that’s exactly what they landed! Michael caught his first ever kingfish plus two more, and john managed two for the day.

Port Hacking is producing some very nice Kings at the moment with one fisho landing one up to 90cm over the weekend. He was using Skipping Gars.

Jackson Sweet is also pictured with a nice 74cm King that fought well in the Hacking Wednesday morning while he fished with a Slug-go soft plastic. He used a big sweep and pause retrieve across the surface and managed a double hook-up!

John took Dave into his secret kingfish spot in the main channel and did well. They rigged up Fuze Doctor plastics weedless with a fast and constant retrieve to get the job done and land Dave’s first legal King. John says even if you see the kings follow you lure, don’t slow down!

The Hacking has also been producing a good share of bream, whiting and flathead on both lures and bait. John caught both bream and flathead on the bottom magic lure, but live nippers have also been doing the trick.

One customer fished Botany Bay out the front of the Sailors Club when he was able to land himself a whopping 1/2kg Whiting.

Botany Bay has good numbers of flathead being caught at the sticks, and also kingfish around the marker poles and oil cans.

Squid are plentiful and taking jigs along the weed beds at the back of merries reef and the bottom of Kurnell lighthouse.

Yellowfin are still on the bite surprisingly, with fish caught off Sydney recently. They’re a lot patchier than they have been in previous weeks but you’ll find the odd fish here and there. Steve is pictured with a great yellow caught off Sydney recently.

Snapper are being caught just off the Sea Cliff Bridge on baits and soft plastics.

A few anglers fished off Garie over the weekend and got a nice bag of Flathead. They were fishing using Flasher Jigs and noted they worked a charm in the 45m mark.

Xavier is pictured with a cracking PB flathead caught off Balmoral beach recently.

Archie Bubb is pictured with a cracking 35cm bream caught in Lake Illawarra using a whole crab he dug up from the sand that day. He also released the fish to fight another day, well done mate!

Bass Point is fishing very well at the moment with many of our Wollongong customers coming in and saying there have been plenty of Snapper, Salmon and Kingfish all around. Some kingies have been caught up to the 70cm mark on both baits & jigs.

Flathead are starting to fire down in St Georges basin. Multiple reports of guys almost cracking the 1m fish down there over the last week or two.

Ethan has been doing well off Kiama’s rocks lately throwing lures for snapper and topwater pelagics. The salmon was caught using the Jackson Surf Glider Lure which is rear weighted on the cast so is perfect for casting out far off the rocks.
